A NSSA (National Social Security Authority) number is essential for every formally employed person in Zimbabwe. It is the number under which your pension contributions are recorded, ensuring you can claim benefits upon retirement or in case of a work-related injury.

The Registration Process (Usually via Employer)

For most people starting a new job, the employer's HR department will handle the NSSA registration process for you.

  1. Provide Documents to Employer: You will be asked to provide your employer with a copy of your National ID, Birth Certificate, and sometimes a completed P2 registration form.
  2. Employer Submission: Your employer submits these documents to NSSA on your behalf.
  3. Receive Your Number: NSSA will process the registration and issue your unique social security number. Your employer will inform you of your number, and you will see the monthly NSSA deductions on your payslip.

How to Register for Yourself

If you need to register yourself, you can visit a National Social Security Authority (NSSA) office in person.

  1. Visit a NSSA Office: Find your nearest NSSA regional office.
  2. Required Documents: Bring your original National ID, original Birth Certificate, and copies of each.
  3. Complete Form P2: You will be given a P2 registration form to complete with your personal details.
  4. Submission and Issuance: Submit the form and your documents. A NSSA officer will process your registration and provide you with your NSSA number.
